Project Description

When I first visited this front garden it was level, but very open to the street. The clients wanted a new design for the front entrance to their house.

We formed curved steel mesh screens which we filled with waves of sandstone and Mary River pebbles. The screens not only gave them some privacy, they formed an interesting feature and an exciting area for their young son to play.

The formal part of the design involved a central reflective water feature together with four Backhousia planted diagonally from the house. They were encircled by painted steel rings to add vibrant colour and echo the tones of the river of Pennisetum that flow through the garden.

Random sandstone flags, with their creamy patterns and texture, lead you to the front door.

This garden is now a place to sit and contemplate at the beginning or end of the day.
